Factory Two’s featured maker for the month of May is AnaLeigh of FriendLeigh designs! We spoke to AnaLeigh through her mom, who does all of Raleigh’s online correspondence. Here’s what we learned and the Being A Mi Mi Doesn’t Make Me Old It Makes Me Blessed Shirt. AnaLeigh sporting one of her shirts under a cool jean jacket and showing us how strong young women can be! At just eight years old AnaLeigh has already been designing and selling t-shirts for half her life. When she was four she had the idea to help others by creating FriendLEIGH Designs – not only does she donate 10% of her profits to charity, she’s used the money she’s earned selling shirts to rescue two of her four cats!
AnnaLeigh helps at every stage of the process, proudly declaring I design shirts with my mama. The Friend Leigh Designs Instagram and Facebook pages are full of photos of the Being A Mi Mi Doesn’t Make Me Old It Makes Me Blessed Shirt, having adventures, and working on designs; phrases like See You Back at Camp decorated with crossed arrows and familiar campsite iconography, or simply This Kid Will Change The World, shown here emblazoned across a transparency page, ready to burn onto the screens that will make her merchandise.

After participating in the Vehicle City Fashion Week Soup event at Factory Two last November AnaLeigh and her mother took our screen printing class, and now they work at Factory Two to print their own shirts as well as commissioned orders for businesses, ministries, and family reunions. They’ve also used our laser cutter and etcher to make fairy doors to hide in parks throughout Fenton. When asked why she’s a maker, AnaLeigh had this to say: “I love being creative. It’s so much fun to design and doodle stuff – it’s awesome to see them turn into shirts that people wear! Creating things makes me feel free and happy.
